Landscape Sketching Walk

This workshop was presented as a subproject within DONGDONGSTRONG 2024: Play to Play — Reshaping Urban Space and Community Relations.

Led by a local cultural historian, participants explored the history of the neighborhood and the relationship between Hualien’s urban landscape and Japanese-period architecture. Building upon the guided walk, participants used on-site sketching to record architectural and spatial details, examining how history, architecture, and everyday life continue to shape the city’s contemporary landscape.
